Neutral Fall Blazer Outfit Idea

TGIF friends! It’s been a bit since I’ve written a blog post but I’m excited to get back on my regular weekly posting schedule 😊 I’m so excited to catch up with you and fill you in on what I’ve been up to the past few weeks! So grab your favorite beverage (I’m sipping on a peppermint mocha right now ☕️) and let’s hang!

If you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel then hopefully you’ve seen the Italy travel vlog I shared last week! I had so much fun putting that together and reliving our time in Rome and Florence to share with you. It was so incredible to explore both of these historic cities with Freddy and my mom and to enjoy all of the delicious Italian food 😍 We were there for a total of 6 days and we packed a lot in, but there was still so much we didn’t get to see that I’m already dreaming of our next trip back. I unfortunately got Covid as soon as we got home, but I’m so glad that didn’t happen on our trip because that would have been awful.

I had a week of downtime and recovery before I went back to the airport on Monday, but this time for a work trip to Denver! This past week was a whirlwind filled with lots of meetings, activities, and late nights hanging out with my team but the sleep deprivation was totally worth it! Now I’m back home with Freddy and I’m excited to not get on a plane again until next year (when we go to Barcelona!! 🥳).

I got a little taste of fall while in Denver and I think I brought it home with me to Phoenix 😉 I’m so excited to break out my sweaters, coats, and boots that have been dying to get worn! At the beginning of each new season I’m always thinking about fashion and planning my outfits, but right now I’m reflecting on my style more than normal and how it’s evolved throughout the years and the different seasons of life I’ve been in. In high school I was obsessed with Abercrombie and Hollister (I mean, what 16 year old girl wasn’t?!), then in college I transitioned into boho style with Anthropologie and free people. In my mid twenties my style was heavily influenced by whatever department I was working in at Nordstrom (women’s designer apparel and the wedding suite) which meant a lot of black and work-wear staples like pencil skirts and cigarette pants. I went back to the boho vibes briefly during the pandemic and more recently I’ve been experimenting with different fashion trends each season.

Now that I’m in my early thirties I’m thinking more about my overall style aesthetic and making more thoughtful choices about the items I buy and what I choose to add into my wardrobe. Historically when I shop I really lean into the “sparks joy” method and buy things that I love in the moment but maybe don’t have anything to pair it back to, which leads to buying more items to complete the outfit. I really am a believer in a capsule wardrobe, but I’m at the point now where I want to start living that out instead of just talking about it. I’ve always been a neutrals girl at heart and I gravitate towards timeless, classic silhouettes that can be worn years down the road. Believe it or not, my Prada bag purchase in Florence really sparked this new thought process and inspired me to be more intentional about the pieces I buy and using accessories to add my own personal touch to what some might consider a more simple outfit. My favorite thing about fashion is that it’s a fun opportunity to express yourself and use clothing to make a statement without having to say anything at all, so I really want to hone in on my “timeless chic neutrals” aesthetic and have more cohesion in my wardrobe.

When we got home (and once I felt better) I went to town in my closet and used a more critical lens to decide what was worth keeping vs what I should donate or sell. There were several items I held onto and hadn’t worn for 5+ years that I wasn’t ready to part with for one reason or another, but I knew if I hadn’t worn these things in that long I probably wasn’t going to start now! It felt so good to clear out my closet and I’m so excited to have a clean slate for the fall/winter season where I can continue to build upon some of the classic pieces I already own. I posted a ton of items to my Poshmark closet so feel free to check them out if you’re interested!

I’m so excited to style some new fall looks and share them with you - I’d love to get your thoughts so make sure you’re following along on Instagram and LTK 🖤 xoxo
