How to Wear the Midi Dress

I've been getting into a fall state of mind as I've been browsing all of the amazing finds on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (which opens to the public tomorrow!) this past week. It's hard to even say that when it's still 100 degrees and 50% humidity here in Arizona, but if I just imagine I'm somewhere cold that usually does the trick. One trend that I keep seeing a lot of is midi-length skirts and dresses. I used to think that a midi-length skirt or dress was awkward and on the verge of matronly, but recently I've grown quite fond of it and find it to be very elegant. If you follow royal fashion, you may have noticed that Meghan Markle is a fan of midi-length skirts and dresses as well! I'm sure this probably has something to do with one of the "Royal rules" in which women aren't supposed to show their knees in public...but regardless she pulls off this style incredibly well. I especially loved the outfits she wore during her and Prince Harry's recent trip to Ireland--even more reason for me to be in a fall mindset!

The biggest complaint I've heard women say about midi-length dresses and skirts is that they can make you look shorter or your legs appear more "stumpy." Obviously that's the last thing we want! One trick I've learned to overcome that is to find one that hits just above the widest part of your calf.  This will help make your legs appear longer and leaner. Another thing you can do is pair your dress or skirt with some heels. Adding height where you can also will help in the appearance of making yourself look taller and your legs longer.

There are so many different styles of midi skirts and dresses, you're bound to find one that suits your style. Whether its a-line, pencil, asymmetrical or flowy, there are tons to choose from, and I've linked some different options for you down below! What are your thoughts on the midi-length trend? Are you a fan? I'd love to know in the comments! xo
