Our Staycation at The Scott Resort

I know I’m likely not the only one who had to postpone or completely cancel their summer travel plans this year. Freddy and I actually hadn’t made official travel plans, which I’m honestly grateful for because I didn’t have to go through the emotions of being super bummed out when we would have had to cancel. Even still, the summers are when we look forward to escaping the heat and going somewhere cooler (which is anywhere but Phoenix!), and it’s been hard to come to terms with the fact that we are staying put for the foreseeable future. We also haven’t taken any time off since February when we went to Florida, so we were feeling the itch to take some PTO, change up our normal routine, and actually leave the apartment.

We were looking at some local resorts that were following health and safety measures and ended up booking a 2-night stay at The Scott Resort in Scottsdale, which is just about 5 minutes up the street from where we live! They had the best rates out of all the hotels we looked at and I must say, it was also the cutest! As soon as you walk in the front doors, you’re greeted by the rich, comforting smell of a Cuban cigar and the welcoming staff. The lobby is a tropical, Cuban-inspired oasis with palms and raffia textures everywhere you look. It’s so relaxing and peaceful, Freddy and I really enjoyed finding a comfy spot to curl up with our books and escape the outside world. Freddy and I were also so excited to enjoy some time relaxing at the pool and just doing a whole lot of nothing for a couple of days.

We checked in on Thursday in the early afternoon and once we dropped our stuff on in our room we headed straight for the pool and basically didn’t leave our lounge chairs for 2 whole days! We went back and forth between both pools on the property throughout the weekend (one has a beach-front vibe with sand, and the other is just a regular pool) and we definitely took advantage of their amazing poolside service! We couldn’t get enough of their loaded fries with ham, an aioli drizzle, and cotija cheese. Totally #yum. We also frequented the on-property restaurant, The Canal Club, for dinners and breakfast and it didn’t disappoint. Everything on the menu is delicious (we tried just about everything on the menu in the 2 days we were there!) and the staff was incredibly friendly. I felt like I was hanging out in a friend’s home and never felt rushed to leave.

We were also pleasantly surprised by the size of our room—it was really spacious and had the cutest decor to really emphasize the tropical vibes. Most importantly though, we felt really safe while at the resort and the staff made social distancing and face masks a priority to ensure the health of their guests. It put us at ease amidst the hesitation we felt leading up to our trip and venturing into the outside world. We purposefully didn’t leave the resort for the entirety of our stay, even though it would have been really easy to go out and get dinner somewhere else or pick up snacks when we got hungry late at night. Freddy had the right mindset and knew that even though we were in our own neck of the woods, by not leaving the property, we would truly feel like we were somewhere else and on a real vacation. It was the best and we both felt so relaxed and rejuvenated at the end of our stay.

If you’ve been wanting to visit Scottsdale, or even if you’re local and want to do a staycation of your own, I highly recommend The Scott Resort! It’s perfect for a couples getaway or for families wanting to have some fun in the pool. The food, atmosphere, and staff are all exceptional and you’ll truly feel like you’re in a whole other world once you step inside. We’re already looking forward to our next stay there and we definitely plan to frequent The Canal Club for dinners and special occasions!
