Fall Florals: Maxi Dresses That Will Elevate Your Autumn Outfits

Fall is in the air and I've been slowly transitioning my wardrobe to match the changing season. Granted, it’s still in the high 90’s here in Phoenix, but I’ve got my fall candles burning at all times so at this point I’m forcing fall to arrive 😉🍂 In last weeks’ blog post, I shared the story of how I scored this stunning fall maxi dress on a major sale and that it felt like fate! What caught my eye immediately was the beautiful floral pattern that effortlessly transitions from summer to fall thanks to the neutral color palette. When it comes to fashion there are 3 things I can’t resist: a beautiful shade of blush pink, an elegant floral print, and any neutral shade (especially brown tones); this dress checked 2 of those boxes! As promised, I’m back and excited to share how I’m styling this versatile dress for the autumn months!

Since the weather is still pretty warm, I didn’t want to go too heavy on my layering piece so a denim jacket felt like the perfect choice. I also wanted to make sure I went with a cropped silhouette so that it accentuates the waistline and doesn’t break up the sleek, fitted silhouette of the dress. I have a longer denim shacket that goes past my hips, but that would have given off more of a frumpy vibe which is the last thing we want! I also love rolling up the sleeves on my denim jackets to create a more relaxed, “lived-in” look. You could also opt for a darker wash on the denim jacket now that we’re heading into fall/winter, but this was all I had so I went for it (and I still think the light wash works!) 🤗

As for the shoes, I traded in my white block heels for these caramel, suede ankle booties which instantly take this look from summer to fall. These are my go-to shoes for the fall and I love that the color perfectly matches the floral pattern - not intentional but a serendipitous coincidence! I’ve had these for 3 years and can honestly say they’re my most comfortable pair of boots. The heel isn’t too high and I can usually walk around in them for several hours, which I don’t say often when it comes to heels.

Finally, I added my Polene crossbody to complete the look! The dark walnut color really ties into all the brown tones in this outfit and I feel like it’s the perfect finishing touch. Styling this dress with these 3 pieces also gives it a more casual look which shows just how versatile this dress is! You can be “wedding guest chic” one minute and “fall farmer’s market ready” the next, and I love it when I can create multiple looks with just one item.

I was also thinking that as the temps cool down, I might even try pairing it with a cozy, cropped cardigan (maybe in cream, olive green, or a beige tone of some sort) and a wide-brimmed hat to add a touch of warmth and some boho-chic flair. Fall is all about embracing the crisp air and nature's changing colors, and I can't wait to rock this dress in a variety of different ways!
