A 1989 (Taylor's Version) Reformation Dress

The first styled look in my “Everyday Eras” outfit series is finally here! I’ve been SO excited to show you the outfits I’ve been planning for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) to help get you ready for the 10.27 album launch 🩵 If you saw some of my posts from July then you’ll know that I’m a Speak Now girlie through and through, but I’m really looking forward to celebrating this TV album drop because I feel like I’m able to full enjoy it for the first time. Back in 2014 when the original album came out I was on a bit of a break from Taylor Swift and I really thought that we were “never ever ever getting back together” (you can read more on that story here). Now that I’m so much older and wiser I’m thriving in my 1989 TV era and can’t wait to hear the 5 vault tracks she’ll be releasing, too!

The concept behind this “Everyday Eras” series is to create outfits that embody the style of your favorite Taylor Swift album but in a more practical, casual way. For this first look I initially drew inspiration from the light blue shade that Taylor associates with 1989 (like the color of all the amazing surprise outfits she wore on 8/9 in LA!) and also from one of her “Wildest Dreams” lyrics “standing in a nice dress starting at the sunset babe”. I also wanted to find a dress that emulated the vibe of the light blue dress she wears in the Spotify video playback for “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)”, and when I saw this one on Reformation’s website I thought it was a pretty great match! It’s also 50% off right now! This linen dress is also a really cute option.

I also drew inspiration from some of Taylor’s street style looks circa 2014 and Keds were a staple shoe in her wardrobe thanks to the ad campaigns she was doing around that time. I haven’t owned a pair of Keds in a long time and forgot how comfortable they are! I got this classic Champion pair in my normal size 7 and didn’t even have to wear socks with them - no break-in time required!

The red lip is also synonymous with the 1989 era and it always makes me think of her original album cover! 💋 I did some research on some of Taylor’s favorite red lip shades and this NARS Velvet Lip Pencil in ‘Dragon Girl’ made the list - it was an immediate add to cart moment. I’ve never been great at applying red lip stick and find that I smudge it very easily, but this one was really easy to apply and stayed in place even while I was drinking coffee and eating a scone! Needless to say I’m not as nervous about applying a red lip shade anymore.

I’d love to hear what you think of this outfit! I have a couple more 1989 TV looks that I can’t wait to share with you soon - in the meantime let me know what your favorite song is from the album. Xoxo
