8 Things You Should Buy from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
The most highly-anticipated sale event of the year is finally here! Is your shopping list ready? Sometimes it can be overwhelming to sort through allll of the amazing (brand-new, fall-focused, budget-friendly) pieces that are on the sale--I mean let's be real, there's over 400 women's tops alone! I've broken this post down into 8 key categories that I highly suggest you buy now on sale--not only are some of these great basics that will carry you throughout the year, but some of these items never go on sale except during this event! Read on to find out what they are...
1. Cashmere
Depending on what part of the country you live in, it may be hard to think about buying cashmere in the dead of summer. Hello, I live in Arizona and this is the last thing on my mind! However, it is the first thing on my shopping list because now is the best time to buy it--when it's practically 40% off. There are so many options too when it comes to cashmere, like a ribbed sweater vest or a scarf that can be worn multiple ways. My favorite is this shawl cardigan that comes in three colors, my first pick of course being blush pink!
2. Beauty
I could do one whole blog post on this topic alone because there are so many fabulous deals in cosmetics. There are tons of gift sets (perfect for those who like to tackle their holiday shopping list 5 months early!) and bundled packages you may as well go crazy! This is my favorite time to buy eyeshadow palettes, because they typically have more colors in them so I know it will last me longer than a normal one. I love all of the neutral shades in this Bobbi Brown palette, which also comes with a cheek set! Blush, bronzer and highlighter all included--talk about a great value!
3. Activewear
Zella is Nordstrom's in-house activewear line, and has been my go-to for many years. The live-in legging is the comfiest pair of yoga pants I've ever worn (no, I've never tried Lululemon...) and for under $40 it doesn't get much better than that (like I said, never tried Lululemon...$$$). I also love this sports bra paired with these pale blue leggings; top it off with this sweater and you're ready to hit the gym.
4. Bras & Panties
I purchased my first Natori 'Feathers' bra two years ago on the sale and I've never looked back! It's the comfiest bra I've ever worn and I love the little lace details. It comes in so many cute colors too, but you can never go wrong with black or nude--which don't go on sale any other time of year except during this sale! It's also a great time to stock up on panties. Hanky Panky is my go-to in this department--I've tried going back to Victoria's Secret but after wearing Hanky Panky there really is no comparison.
5. Boots
One of the most popular items bought every year on the sale are boots. It's so fun to browse all of the new styles and get you in the mood for the upcoming fall season. There's a style for everyone whether you love ankle boots, over-the-knee boots or UGG boots! These low-heel ankle boots are great for every day and come in 3 neutral colors. I also love these cozy UGG boots--the bow detail makes them so cute! I've never owned a legit pair of UGG boots (I've had slip-on slippers you wear at home) because they're just not that practical for Arizona living. If I ever go to a snowy cabin somewhere you bet I'll definitely be getting myself a pair!
6. Home Decor
This is a category some people often forget about because the focus of the sale is primarily on clothing, but don't miss out on some of these amazing home deals! You can get everything from bath towels and bedding to cutting boards and candles. One of my favorite items is the Barefoot Dreams blanket--it's literally the softest fabric ever! So soft it can put me right to sleep...along with this aromatherapy diffuser.
7. Jeans
I don't know about you, but I love a good pair of jeans. Thankfully there are tons of styles on sale at all kinds of price points (some as low as $40!). My go-to brands are Paige, Citizens of Humanity and Frame because they always fit me so well; I never have to wonder if I'll like them because I almost always do! This is a great dark wash skinny that you can wear with flats, sneakers or ankle boots, and I love this black pair that my mom bought--under $55! For more of a statement piece, I love these studded, straight leg jeans and can totally see them being paired with these ah-mazing gold mules! #goals
8. Handbags
Last but certainly not least, it's time to complete your look with an amazing accessory. Backpacks are a huge trend this season, and this pink one has me jumping on the bandwagon! I just love the color and that it's perfect for travel. Or if you're not a fan of backpacks, it also comes in this gorgeous satchel style. In the crossbody department, this nude perforated leather option is a great size, or if you prefer a classic look, this one with gold chain details is perfect!
