Birthday Blessings

This past Sunday I celebrated my birthday, and what a wonderful day it was! My husband, Freddy, spoiled me and made me feel so loved. He made cinnamon rolls for breakfast (yum!), and made me an amazing pasta dish (recipe here) when I got home from work that night. I walked through the door to find the apartment only illuminated by the candles on the dinner table, with beautiful flowers and sparkling cider in the toasting glasses from our wedding. It was a beautiful sight and the perfect setting to come home to!

Once we didn't feel so full, we went to a local ice cream shop called Lick for dessert. They have so many unique flavors it was so hard to pick just one! So I picked two: dark chocolate with olive oil and sea salt, and coffee. They also serve chocolate waffle cones! It was all so delicious and just the right amount of sweetness. After that settled, we still wanted more food! I don't know if it was the celebratory mood or what, but we went all out that night. Our next stop was Shake Shack, since they had just opened near our apartment and we have been meaning to check it out. We ordered cheese fries, a root beer, and a peanut butter shake. Everything was wonderful, and after that we were definitely too full for anything else and headed home!

I also received some wonderful gifts from my husband and my family, but the one I am most excited about is the biography of Walt Disney! I found the book originally at Disneyland, and when Freddy wouldn't let me buy it, I now know he was saving it as part of my birthday gift. I'm already on Chapter 3 and I can't put it down. Thought the coming weeks I will be sharing other Disney books that I have read and enjoyed!

I had such a great night with my husband, and I am so thankful God placed him in my life. It was nice to reflect on the past year and celebrate our adventures: our first year of marriage, first Thanksgiving and Christmas, moving to a new state, and new jobs. I'm so grateful for all of it, and I'm excited to see what the Lord has in store for us this next year!
