As I mentioned in my previous #PatioPantParty post, Freddy and I discovered a really cool street at the Domain called Rock Rose. It's lined with local bars and restaurants, and makes for a unique Austin experience! Last week, Freddy and I went out for a date night and got to explore this vibrant community. We spotted Jack & Ginger's and it looked like a cool hang out spot, so we took a seat on their outdoor patio and enjoyed the early evening breeze.
Now I'll admit, Freddy and I are not beer drinkers at all. Which probably leaves you wondering why the heck would we pick an Irish pub of all places to go to? Something about an Irish pub just sounds exciting and entertaining to me, just without the beer! So if you are a beer fanatic, I'm sure you will appreciate their long list of choices, but let me tell you, their food did not disappoint.
We shared their loaded fries appetizer, topped with bacon, chives and sour cream. I could have made a meal out of that alone! We couldn't stop there though, so I ordered the beer battered fish & chips, while Freddy enjoyed their classic burger.
After a great meal, we walked around for a little bit to pick our next spot to eat at. There are too many options to choose from, and more are still opening! This street is up and coming, with even more exciting plans in the works. One place that caught our eye was Saint Genevieve, and I hear they serve an excellent Sunday brunch, which we are so anxious to try!
There's also Lavaca Street Bar, which is known for their surf n' turf style menu. I can hear the fish tacos calling my name now!
MAD Greens looks like a great place to grab lunch, and provides an alternative healthy option. They source their produce from local suppliers, too!
There's also some boutiques and a lovely day spa (Viva Day Spa) on Rock Rose as well! With all the new openings coming to Rock Rose, we can't wait to eat our way through this exciting addition at the Domain. Stay tuned as we review more good eats here on the blog!
